A public inquiry has been ordered into the conduct of two police officers during a riot after a GUNS N' ROSES concert was cancelled at the last moment in Vancouver last November, the Canadian Press reports.
Complaints Commissioner Dirk Ryneveld says most of the police response to the disturbance was appropriate, but an inquiry is needed into the conduct of two officers.
TV videotape shows the officers striking two men in the face with billy clubs as the men tried to leave the area.
Ryneveld says the two victims complained that police used unnecessary and excessive force on them resulting in injuries.
A Vancouver Police internal investigation cleared the officers of any wrongdoing. |
