Sporty Spice, The Cult Join Neurotic Outsiders For Viper Room Farewell
The Neurotic Outsiders topped off a recent string of Monday night gigs at Los Angeles' Viper Room with a bang this week by inviting Sporty Spice Mel C. and Cult members Billy Duffy and Ian Astbury on stage.

The Outsiders (comprised of Sex Pistols' guitarist Steve Jones, former Duran Duran bassist John Taylor, ex-Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan on guitar, and GN'R/Cult drummer Matt Sorum) had made the Viper Room a regular haunt on Monday nights and now plan to take a bit of a break.

Given the band's family tree, the appearance of Cult members Astbury and Duffy isn't much of a stretch. But few could have anticipated the moment when card-carrying Spice Girl Mel C. took the stage. Clad in a Spice Girls t-shirt, she assumed vocal duties for three songs, including the Sex Pistols' punk anthem "Anarchy in the U.K."

Speaking with MTV News after the show, former Pistol Jones explained that he met Mel C. at a recent Alanis Morissette/Garbage concert and asked if she'd like to join the band for the show.

While special guests dotted the stage, the crowd was also chock full of Hollywood notables as Stephen Dorff ("Blade"), Lukas Haas ("Mars Attacks!"), Angie Everhart ("Bordello of Blood"), Lilith Fair-bound singer Bijou Phillips, and producer/mogul Rick Rubin came out for the show.
